Asking what the lowest priced iPhone is would be in keeping with human nature. All of us it seems want something that will meet our needs and wants at the least cost. Getting a bargain and even getting what we merely think is a bargain gives a sense of accomplishment that builds up self-worth. Is there really a “lowest priced” iPhone?  The question might not find answer.

To be simplistic about it, the lowest priced iPhone would be that which is the oldest model and the least cared for, although it might not be true all of the time. Most individual sellers of used iPhones price items on perceived value. What the lowest priced iPhone is should perhaps be associated to your needs and to your appreciation of the thing. Deciding on what the lowest priced iPhone is should be reckoned in relative terms rather than on real terms as there are things that simply cannot be quantified.

All the same, you should determine your requirements and check on the phone’s physical characteristics in order to arrive at a decision on what the lowest priced iPhone is. Emphasis should not be placed on the cost alone as the preliminary step in looking for a low priced iPhone. What exactly is it you want from an iPhone apart from the low price? Do you want the original iPhone that in every sense looks like the latest model except for some applications as may be inferred from the absence of the suffix 3G or 3GS, or do you use is in general terms? Do you prefer the latest model instead but do not mind whether it is used or refurbished; do you want it unlocked so you can choose the carrier of your choice; or should it also be jailbroken so you can have access to a wider application? Does a low priced iPhone to you mean only the basic accessories provided by the manufacturer or do you have other accessories in mind as well that may be bought at a discount, to give you convenience in its use?

After defining your needs or preferences, you can proceed to the satisfaction of basic requirements to protect you interests. This would not be tedious in a brand new iPhone since you would merely want to choose whether you want an unlocked and jailbroken unit.

The following should be considered in buying a used iPhone, whether refurbished or not:

•    Thoroughly check the condition for wear and tear such as scratches especially on the screen, water exposure, or damage of any kind.

•    Ascertain that the iPhone has not been blacklisted and has a clear ESN. A blacklisted iPhone will not work.

•    Determine from the seller if the phone is locked or unlocked. "Unlocked" phone can be used on any GSM network while a "Locked" phone can only be used with the carrier mentioned by the seller.

•    Check for a return policy and if the iPhone is still under warranty

•    Check the battery. iPhones can’t be replaced by the user when they die. Anything more than a year old should be regarded cautiously.

•    Decide on the price difference between a used or refurbished iPhone and a new one; a small difference might not be worth the buy.

•    Be patient and alert for developments in the price of iPhones.  Businesses sometimes reduce an item’s price just to move the products.

After deciding what the lowest priced iPhone is, go to the website of eBay. Low priced iPhones of different models are available to choose from, whether as a direct buy or for auction.
